Music production guide
Three short checks for clearer recordings and a better-prepared mix. Work through the steps in your next session and mark what you changed.

One small step per day is enough. Change one main variable per comparison and write down what you actually hear.
Record ten seconds of room noise and a short test take from your current position.
Record the same line at two positions and compare both takes at the same volume.
Mark the microphone and source positions, set the level with headroom and note the conditions.
Listen through a complete take and write down exactly one problem to check in the mix.
Work only with faders and panning until the basic balance remains clear at low volume.
Check unwanted low end and masking. Only process what actually gets in the way in the full arrangement.
Compare quietly, in mono and against a reference. Note one next change and deliberately leave the rest alone.
This is not an abstract production guide, but a repeatable process for your next session: check the position, stabilize levels, build the basic balance and only then process with intent. Every comparison becomes a small learning loop.
The checklist cannot replace careful listening. It helps you use it more systematically.
